Self-made Commercial: FRISK

Hi, today I want to introduce our commercial. Our group members are Kana, Tomoko, and Fumika. We made a FRISK commercial. FRISK is a tablet which is cool and refreshing. There are many tastes and the case color differs with the taste. For example, yellow is lemon, pink is grapefruit. We chose it because all of us like it and use different tastes. Moreover it’s the 20th anniversary this year. Then we decided to make a commercial that FRISK is loved by many people, no matter where they are from. FRISK is really helpful when you want to refresh in a class or your job. It’s also compact. Why don’t you get your FRISK?
Lastly, Merry Christmas! and Happy New Year!

Bog#10 commercial

Hello, I'm Rina. Many CM on the TV screen is flickering everyday around the world. Japanese commercial's characteristics is short about 15 seconds and have impact, and CM company often choose famous actors, on the other hand other country's commercial is long about more than 30 seconds and have storyline, so we don't sometimes understand the Japanese CM until we watced it to the very end.

This CM is Japanese's and this is the advertisement of LED light bulb. This made me feel warm.

Blog#9 Advertisement in the train

Hello, I'm Rina. We often get on the trains wherever we go, and then we always see any advertisement in the train. So, I introduce the unieq train advertisement.

A few years ago, many train advertisements is inside, but we often recently see outside advertisement, and the way gives us

Pepsi co. created a subway poster that had a fully functional headphone jack imbedded in it,  in Toronto and Vancouver. This poster plays a 30 second track.

This is the watch company's advertisement. They used not ordinary way (paper, stecker, and screen), but they used the straps. I am surprised at the idea because I have had enough of ordinary methods.
There are more advertisement in any city in Japan than other countries, because other countries have the law that people should not spoil the view. It is important for some company to spread their items, but I don't like confused view much.

Blog#10: NOKIA's TV Commercial

Hi, I’m Fumika. Today I’d like to introduce a TV commercial. The commercial is about Nokia. Nokia is famous for cellphone. In this commercial, they use cellphone to advertise the company, Nokia. The story is like this. It is night, a woman is in a room and it’s raining outside. Then the scene is changed, it’s daytime, a man ask many people to take photos of him by his cellphone in a street. He is taken photos with signboards in a church, a station, a store, and a public washroom. The scene is changed again. The woman who is in the room seems lonely and waiting for something. Just then her cellphone rings, receives some pictures from him. He uses those pictures to say “will you marry me.” He is sitting on a bench and waiting for her answer. He gets a call from her, and he stands up for joy. I just like this commercial, so I chose it. The story is lovely and happily, isn’t it? The interesting point about this commercial is in the last. When the man is waiting for her call, a big signboard is behind him. There is a blue bus between he and the signboard, and hides half of the signboard, so you only can see two letters “NO.” But when he gets her call, the bus is moved and you can see the whole letters “NOKIA, CONNECTING PEOPLE.” It’s very smart. Also I think this couple is not in the same country, because one side is night, the other side is daytime. Nevertheless, they are connected by cellphone. Moreover he proposes to her in such lovely way by cellphone. This commercial show us that it doesn't matter how far away you are, a cellphone, I mean Nokia, will help you and connect you. I really like this commercial. How about you? If you are interested in Nokia, click here.

Blog#9: Commercial songs

Hi, this is Fumika. Today I want to write about music in advertising, we call it “Commercial song.” Nowadays, I think you will hear many regular songs when you watch TV. For example, “Manekineko duck no uta” which is the commercial song of the insurance company Aflac, or opening song of the mail-order company Takata. Those are very famous and you would know what they are when you hear the songs, even you don’t watch the commercials. By the way, when did companies start to broadcast commercial with song? The first commercial song was broadcasted in 1951. Then, in 1959, TV spread rapidly and commercial song has become diversified. There was a TV program which only broadcasted commercial songs. Now, there are two types of commercial song. One includes name of the company or product. Another one doesn’t include name of the company or product, but reminds you of those things. In my opinion, commercial songs are very useful to increase the sales of goods. Because sometimes you can’t forget a song, you think of that all day, then, you will want the product. If a commercial song is very splendid and match the product, it will make the product more attractive. Moreover, Commercial song is a big business now. There is a web site that you can search commercial songs. Here it is. Do you have any impressive commercial songs?

Blog#10: Interesting TV commercial

Hello! I'm Natsumi.
I will introduce an interesting TV commercial today.
Have you seen the TV commercial of  a non-alcohol plum liqueur by Choya?
If you can't  remember soon, you will get to remember if you see.

Do you remember the song, don't you?
I choose this CM because this song is unforgettable and repeats in my head.

This product is named ''酔わないウメッシュ!''.
In this CM, women, from Kii Kitano, who is a Japanese actress, are dancing and singing.

I think song is very important for CM.
Even I don't like the product so much, I often sing snatch of a song of the CM of it without realizing it.
As a result, the product gets to be well-known.

The song used in this CM is very impressive and unforgettable.
In this song's words  ''You wanna '酔わないウメッシュ'', there is a play on words.
''You wanna'' and ''酔わな'' are similar.
It is interesting.
In addition, this CM changed with season, so you will not lost interest.

The product's HP is Here.
In this HP, you can watch how to dance.

Blog#9: Interesting Advertisement

Hello! I' m Natsumi Shiraishi.

I will introduce an interesting advertisement which I’ve seen these days.

Cecile, which is a mail-order dealer firm, is now trying to strengthen recognition of a brand named ‘’ANITA RENBERG.’’
As the part of this plan, this company advertise in Shinjuku Station, where more than four thousand people pass on.

Look!!! There are many models who wear lovely clothes in the advertisement.
The advertisement has a function called Touch Device.
If you want to buy the clothes which are worn by the model in the advertisement, you can get information about the item by touching your smartphone to the Touch Device.
The Touch Device is very epoch-making system.
By use the Touch Device, you can see the information about the item, buy it, and moreover get coupon for 1,000 yen.
Do you get to want to buy, don't you?
The principle of the company is that  customers can buy goods whenever they want wherever they want.
As soon as you see the advertisement, you can buy.

I think it is getting more important for advertisement to cooperate with smartphone.

Incidentally, the model in the advertisement is named Cecil Kishimoto.
Her name is similar to the company's name.

The company's HP is Here.

Blog#7 My summer camp

Hi, Rina Hanamura. How was your summer vacation? I wanted to go abroad, but I couldn't. I went to Sugadaira in Nagano for training camp of rugby football. It was cool but sometimes cold, so we started a fire in the fireplace around the middle of August.

Manegers' work in the ground is to run to give the players in the ground, bind their affected areas with taping not to injure these areas and to do best performance, give patients rehabilitation, do first-aid treatment and so on, so we have licences to do first aid.

They are teammates of my age.

Then, we took bus to Hakone. About 2 hours later, we arrived at a cottage, at once started BBQ!
We ate grilled meat, vegetable, and fried noodle....anyway so much!!!

In the evening, we did fireworks, and waited up for talking.

The next day, we went to Lake Ashino, and play in the water.
I rode a swan boat with my friend Mao.

It was a short trip, but I had a pleasant time, and got to like more my classmates.

Blog#7: Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum

Hello! I’m Natsumi Shiraishi.

Today, I will introduce one of my summer vacation memories.

I went to Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum in Ueno on September 6th.

I’m not so much interested in arts, but my mother likes museum, so I was taken by her. First, I was surprised to see many people in Ueno. I didn’t think Ueno was so crowded a place. But I understood the reason that there was zoo, a lot of museums and shopping malls.

The main arts in the museum was Johannes Vermeer’s ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring‘. Do you know Vermeer? He is a very famous painter typical of Dutch arts of 17th century. He painted about 30 works, and his works are exhibited transferring world.

There were Rembrandt’s, Frans Hals’s, Rubens’ works besides Vermeer’s. I had taken to Frans Hals’s work named ‘Laughing Boy’. The boy in the painting looks like live.

After we went to museum, we moved to Ginza and enjoyed shopping. It was a very happy day!

I recommend you to go the museum if you like arts, even if you are indifferent to. You will be attracted.

The museum’s HP is here.

Blog#4 Opus Hong Kong

Hello, I'm Rina Hanamura. I checked Frank Gehrey's architecture and I will introduce it. The building is Opus Hong Kong in Victoria Peak and is built in 2012. The mountain overlooks the night view of Hong Kong, so it is famous as a tuorist spot. This is Opus Hong Kong.

Compared with his other works, this building is seemingly restrained. But to my surprise, one room of the building was sold for 4,360,000,000yen. This is the most expensive room in Asia, and second in the world. This is the view from the room.

I'm sorry I cannot find this home page...

Blog8: Musical "CHICAGO"

Hi, this is Fumika. How are you? I’d like to write about a musical I watched this summer. I love musical, especially “CHICAGO”. The first time I watched it was in last February, at Broadway, N.Y. It was amazing, so I hoped I could watch it again. A couple months ago, I heard a piece of news from my friend that the “CHICAGO” would come to Japan from Broadway! That was exactly what I wanted! I bought the ticket immediately and I got a good seat. It was performed at Akasaka Act Theater. Ryoko Yonekura played the heroin. I like her, but she was not so good when compared with other Broadway’s casts. The story of “CHICAGO” is in 1920s, a woman whose name is Roxie killed her ex-boyfriend. But she doesn’t want to be arrested, so she hire an able lawyer and make up a story. Meanwhile, she becomes famous because of her crime, and reporters treat her like a star. Velma, who also is a murderer and famous, but because of Roxie, her fame would decline. In this musical, they express crime and fame with song, dance and joke. I was impressed by the songs and dances, and laugh at the jokes. I really want to recommend it to everyone to watch. Here is "CHICAGO" official web site.

Blog#7: My Summer Trip; Northern Europe

Hi, this is Fumika. Today I’m going to write about my summer trip. I went to northern Europe with my family for 10 days. Even it was summer, northern Europe was cold. Firstly, I visited Oslo, Norway. I could see the famous painting, “The Scream” by Edvard Munch. It wasn’t so big, and there was despair in the painting. Next day, I went to Flam by train. Flam was like a small village and surrounded by beautiful nature. A fish I ate there was really delicious. I board a ferry to go to Bryggen. The ferry would go down some fiords for 5 hours. The fiord was the main purpose of this trip, it was beautiful and magnificent. Secondly, I visited Helsinki, Finland. I enjoyed shopping there. The prices were ever cheaper than Japanese ones, moreover it was sale season. At a market besides the sea, there were many kinds of freshly picked berry. At night, I ate reindeer meet. In Finland, everybody eats it and it was tasty. Lastly, I went to Stockholm, Sweden. Stockholm had beautiful old-fashioned buildings. So I enjoyed a walk for many hours, because it was fun that you just walk in the street. Next day, I visited the old town Gamla Stan. I could see the palace and the Diet Building there. I tried a local food called pytt y panna which is made by potatos and beef at a popular café, the taste was a bit iffy for me. Northern Europe is a good place, beautiful nature, many shops and delicious foods, everything are there.

Blog#6:Lang-8

Hello, this is Mai. How have you been?
Today I introduce Lang-8, which is a language exchange social networking website. I have never used it before, but I'm really interested in it these days. I guess that everybody in this class will be interested in it, too.

First, create a user profile and add your native language and your target language of studying. Then, write a journal and it will be checked by native speakers. Therefore, you can improve your writing skills of the target language for free. In return, you should check and correct other users' journals, which are written in your mother tongue. You can also add a comment on a journal, if you want.

In addition, there is no rule that you have to check the diary written by the person who checked yours. It means, you can help other users when you have a lot of free time!
As of March 2011, the website currently had over 250,000 registered members, from over 120 different countries.

I like this social media very much because we can learn languages for free by helping each other all over the world. I feel like that users in the world are all friends! So I would like to try this site.
This is the URL of the site. Please click here!

Blog#6: Social Media

  Hello! I'm Natsumi Shiraishi.

Today, I will introduce a social networking service, MySpace. Do you know it? It is not so popular as Facebook and Twitter, but used for long time all over the world, especially by lovers of music.

In this service, singers and bands of musicians exhibit their music on view. Ordinary members of the service can listen to their music free of charge, and exchange with musicians you like.

MySpace has big influence on the music world of America. Musicians, engineers and radio’s DJs can expand group sharing links. By investigating MySpace, lovers of musician, and tastes of music of people can be seen. So it is very important means of marketing to advertise in this site.

I like this site because I can listen to new music without buying CD or download by spending money, and be told good musicians by music lovers who have similar tastes to me.

If you get interested in MySpace, click here.

Blog#5: Fish Dance

Hello, this is Natsumi. I will introduce a building named Fish Dance.

This building is built in Meriken Park in  Kobe in 1987 for 120th anniversary of Kobe's  opening port to foreign ships for trade. It was designed by Frank Gehry and supervised by Tadao Ando, who is a Japanese architect and a professor emeritus of Tokyo University. Its hight is 22 meters, and it is used as a restaurant.
In1991, it was painted pink without permission for prevention against rust, but  Frank Gehry criticized that, and in 2005 he painted it silver again. This fish overcame the earthquake in 1995, and has been visited by many people.
After 1980s, he made a lot of things related to fish. Do you think why? There are various opinion, for example that his childhood nickname was 'fish', and that he put a carp into bathtub and played with it  when he was littele.
I think this fish looks real and alive.  His unrestrained idea is interesting.

The site of the park where you can see the fish is here!

Blog#5: Walt Disney Concert Hall

Hi, this is Fumika. How are you? Today I’m going to introduce a building of Frank Gehry. I watched many buildings which built by him, and it was really hard to decide the one to talk about, because every building was beautiful. Finally, I decided to introduce Walt Disney Concert Hall which is in Los Angeles, California. As its name, this is a concert hall, and Lillian Disney, widow of Walt Disney, decided to build this. Frank Gehry took charge of the design, and Yasuhisa Toyota who is an acoustician took charge of the acoustics. The construction was started in 1999 and completed in the spring of 2003. It cost about one hundred and thirty million. In addition, for saving the cost, Frank Gehry changed the original material of exterior wall to less costly metal skin. I don’t know what he tried to use originally, but I like this metal skin. In the daytime, it changes the atmosphere by the sky. At night, it really reflects the illumination beautifully.

Moreover, Frank Gehry also made a very unique design inside. It’s a large concert organ which was completed in 2004.

Both outside and inside are very beautiful and powerful indeed. Also it’s just right for the Disney. The Disney always give us impact and impress, I think this concert hall does same. I want to go there, and listen to a concert someday. It will be an amazing experience. If you want to know about Walt Disney Concert Hall more, click here.
Lastly, this is a video about Walt Disney Concert Hall and Frank Gehry.

Blog#4:Norton House

Hello, this is Mai. Today I checked a lot of architecture of Frank Gehry and decided to introduce Norton House in Venice, California, was built in 1984. This three-story house has bed rooms, kitchen like other common houses, and also a studio which is separated from the main house. The studio looks like a big birdhouse and I think it is remarkable and cute.
This is the picture of Norton house.

The owners requested access to the ocean views without sacrificing privacy from passers and neighbors. I think Frank Gehry satisfied this request fully with his unique sense. I really want to study in this studio looking at the Venice beach.

The main house colored nice blue, green and orange, and there is a gate, which looks like a Japanese temple's torii. I like it because it is like a gate to the mysterious and fantastic house.

Do you want to know more about Frank Gehry's works?? There is a movie about him, called "Sketches of Frank Gehry". Please click here to check the trailer of the movie.

Blog#3: A nice restaurant

Hi, I'm Fumika. How's it going?
Today, I'd like to introduce a restaurant which I went to 2 weeks ago, Cucina Italiana la Lingua Ochiai. It is Italian restaurant, but there are no pizzas. It is bad for me, because I'm a pizza lover, but the all dishes are good! The nearest station is Nogizaka. It was quiet, clean, and with nice lighting. When I took my seat, a table napkin was folded like this in front of me.

It was really cute! I ordered many dishes, the best one was that a pasta with sea-urchin sauce. The taste was simple but delicious.

Not only the dishes were good, the service was also good. All wait staff were really care about us, for example, they brought next dish soon after we finished. So we always could take warm and delicious dishes. The price was kind of expensive, but it is worth visiting. I want to go there again, even there are no pizzas. Here is its official blog.

Blog#2:Lacrosse

Hello! I’m Mai Yoshida. How are you??

Today I introduce International Friendship Match of lacrosse, which was taken place on 3rd May in Kasai. The game was between the team representing Japan, and the team of university of Hofstra from America. The Japan team was narrowly defeated by one point. Players from Hofstra were tall, big, and really powerful.

This is the picture of the game.

By the way, have you ever seen lacrosse?
I belong to men’s lacrosse club as a manager. I had never seen lacrosse until I entered the university, and when I saw it for the first time I was surprised because it was a completely new sport for me. It is very interesting to watch as it has many unique rules, for example, there aren't goals on the edge of the field so players can run behind the goals. There is never a dull moment and actually it is called "the fastest sport on two feet".

This is the picture of our game in May.

This is the official homepage of Japan Lacrosse Association, so please click here to know what it is like.

I thought this museum was amusing for adult and also children.I recommend you to go there. I think you will enjoy the museum even if you don't like Ghibi so much .

It is very nice restaurant, so I would like you to go to this restaurant after you have read this blog. This restaurannt is in Mejiro and it takes about 3 minutes on foot to get to the restaurant from Gakushuin university. The restaurant is an Italian restaurant. The restaurant area is small, so the hall is often full. The atmosphere is casual. The back ground music is all jazzy.

Of course, the food is very delicious, but there is a large amount. People who first visit here are very surprised, also I will suggest you should go when you are very hungry. For example, this is coffee!! I always order it.

Blog#1: My N.Y trip

Hi, I’m Fumika Nemoto. How are you today? Did you see an annular solar eclipse this morning? I wish you didn’t miss it because it was beautiful. Now, I’m going to introduce my last trip. I went to N.Y during my stay in Toronto as a student last February. I took part in a tour which was for international students. It was a really nice and cheap trip. I had wanted to go there for many years! There were many high buildings. Central park was far bigger than I thought. Moreover, there were some interesting places, such as a monument of "Alice in Wonderland" and "Imagine Mosaic" of the Beatles. I also enjoyed Broadway show "CHICAGO" and Hudson Cruise. I took this following picture when I got on board.

The most beautiful thing was a night view from the Empire State Building.

It's amazing, right?
Another good thing was I could make a lot of friends in this tour. We talked about our each country. It was a very good experience for me. If you are interested in N.Y now, check here.

Lastly, this is one of my favorite songs, "Empire State of Mind" by Alicia Keys and Jay-Z. I'd be glad if you like this song.

Blog#1: My favorite restaurant LEFTY

Hello, my name is Mai Yoshida. Today I'd like to introduce my favorite restaurant, LEFTY. It is located near Mejiro station, and famous for their original omurice(it is an omelette containing stir-fried rice). Their omurice is my favorite because it is mild-taste, has a lot of piece of chickens, and is covered with a fluffy omelette. They also have other delicious dishes, for examples, spaghetti, humburger steak, and gratin.

There is an old chef and he always cook alone, so it takes a lot of time to get your meal. However, his cook is warm and really delicious.
The atmosphere of LEFTY is relatively dark and old. There are a lot of videos so everytime I go to LEFTY, I can enjoy watching a interesting movie.

I really recommend you to go to LEFTY and try their omurice. Here is the HP of LEFTY on Tabelog.
